KUALA LUMPUR, 11 August 2021 – 17LIVE Inc, the operator of the leading live streaming platform in Japan and Taiwan, has announced its expansion in the Malaysian market through its wholly-owned business unit. In conjunction with this announcement, the company also unveiled several Malaysians (also known as LIVERS) who have signed up on a contractual basis to live stream content via the enhanced 17LIVE platform.

“We are proud to announce the launch of 17LIVE in Malaysia as we strengthen our commitment by establishing our local operations here. Very soon, we’ll also be launching in additional three markets in Southeast Asia. Through our 17LIVE platform, we hope to build connections and interactions amongst the Malaysian community in real time to create a new form of entertainment platform that connects our talents and audience,” said Alex Lien, CEO of 17LIVE for Taiwan and Southeast Asia.

As a leading live streaming platform, 17LIVE has recorded more than 45 million registered users[1] worldwide. It also has the distinction of being the application that has achieved the fastest 10 million downloads[2] in the live streaming application category.

Alex Lien, CEO of 17LIVE for Taiwan and Southeast Asia

“Live streaming is a huge phenomenon globally, and this has given us the confidence to expand to other markets in Southeast Asia. We are seeing a growing number of users in this region and LIVERS are discovering that this creates an opportunity for them to earn revenue by building a fan base to live stream content. We certainly welcome and encourage more Malaysian music artists, entertainers and influencers to be LIVERS on the 17LIVE platform,” said Alex.

Local LIVERS thrive despite the pandemic

The ongoing pandemic has certainly impacted people around the world. There is no doubt that livelihoods and social interactions have been disrupted to the extent that people have lost their source of income and felt increasingly disconnected from friends and distant family members. Thankfully, with the 17LIVE platform, some measures of relief from the pandemic can still be achieved as illustrated by the three Malaysians who recently signed up as LIVERS to overcome their own challenges.

Elene.一粒钟

Elene (Elene.一粒钟), a student who was forced to suspend her studies in Australia and return to Malaysia due to the pandemic, is now beginning to earn an income by live streaming on 17LIVE. As an introvert, Elene found the experience of live streaming to be challenging at first but over time she has gained more confidence and is developing new friendships on 17LIVE.

sharron0702

Sharron (sharron0702),  a fashion design graduate, who found that career opportunities in Malaysia were limited in her field of study. After several failed attempts to start her own business in the past year, Sharron decided to sign on as a LIVER on 17LIVE. She is now beginning to build her network and hopes that this newfound passion will offer her a stable source of income.

janetlee06

Another successful LIVER on 17LIVE is Janet (janetlee06) who shared that her experience as a LIVER has been an interesting journey and one that has allowed her to be financially independent. Janet admits that she was nervous initially but has eventually gained confidence in interacting and making new friends through live streaming.

Enhanced live streaming experience

The 17LIVE platform is designed to be secure and safe to ensure that both LIVERS and users can interact in a healthy and conducive environment. Utilizing a state-of-the-art technology known as Skyeye, 17LIVE can provide a safe and secure platform for live streaming. A dedicated team also operates in the backend to monitor the entire platform around the clock using Artificial Intelligence (AI) monitoring and machine learning technologies to prevent any illegal and inappropriate conduct to be streamed on 17LIVE.

The brand-new feature, the “17LIVE Group Call”, was developed and introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic with the aim of allowing multiple people to interact simultaneously and communicate more easily through live streams.

Free to all in-app users, “17LIVE Group Call” is a new form of live streaming that enables users to stream anytime, anywhere, with anybody and can include up to nine LIVERS and users on a single stream.

Diversified content and extensive celebrities and artists list

Besides these enhanced features, the 17LIVE also offers a diverse range of content such as interactive games, music, and art sharing etc. In addition, 17LIVE produces unique and customized entertainment where celebrities are invited as participants. Users who watch these live streaming contents on the 17LIVE will also have the opportunity to interact with the host and celebrities through messages, gifts and shoutouts.

“In this new normal, live streaming has become an essential way for people to connect with each other. Additionally, a platform like 17LIVE also allows businesses and brands to have more agility in terms of strengthening their presence with an interactive global audience. The continued advancements in our live streaming technology will make interpersonal contact more real and genuine,” said Alex.
