foodpanda partnered with Coca-Cola to donate meals to PERTIWI Soup Kitchen via the ‘OhKasih’ CSR Initiative
Kuala Lumpur, 5 May 2023 — In bringing joy to the lives of Malaysians during this festive season, foodpanda, one of Malaysia’s leading food and grocery delivery platforms,
distributed a total of 246,446 meals to PERTIWI NGO and its programme PERTIWI Soup
Kitchen to provide free meals to those in need.
The campaign ‘OhKasih’ ran from March 23 to April 21. ‘OhKasih’ is a Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) initiative which was organised by OHBULAN!, a subsidiary media
company of REV Media Group. In participating in the campaign, foodpanda also partnered
with Coca-Cola which sponsored the event.
With every order on the foodpanda app and website, foodpanda donated one meal when
customers used the promo code ‘PANDA’ at checkout. And with every purchase of Coca Cola included in the order, two meals were donated instead.
Bernard Chong, Marketing Director of foodpanda Malaysia said “Thanks to our customers, we have accomplished our goal of giving back to the community while fostering the spirit of
sharing during the holy month of Ramadan. We are also extremely heartened that Malaysians are very charitable and giving, but we hope that this spirit continues beyond Ramadan. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the OhKasih and PERTIWI Soup Kitchen teams for helping shed some light on the struggles that our underprivileged communities face as that is what has served as a motivation to our customers for this campaign.”
A food distribution event was held at the Medan Tuanku Distribution Centre on Wednesday
evening. foodpanda, Coca-Cola Malaysia and REV Media Group staff also came together to
roll up their sleeves and distribute meals in the heart of the city to those in need.
At the event, a fleet of bekal by foodpanda riders rode in with the food to be distributed. bekal by foodpanda is foodpanda’s recently launched delivery fleet and is Malaysia’s only
halal-certified food delivery platform delivering food products from halal-certified vendors
only.
pandamart – foodpanda’s grocery store designed to deliver customers conveniences in under 30 minutes – also donated dried goods such as cookies and fruits at the event.
Datuk Munirah Abdul Hamid, founder of PERTIWI Soup Kitchen programme back in 2010, said “To know that we have collected almost 250,000 meals is an indescribable feeling. I’m
grateful to the customers of foodpanda who made it possible for us to continue being able to feed the inner-city community.”
“Thank you, foodpanda, for making this a reality”, she added.
Present at the event include REV Media Group representatives – General Manager of Omnia,
Digital Solutions, Ms. Adrina Choy and General Manager of Malay Network, Ms. Noraniza Azmi who presented a RM 20,000 mock cheque to PERTIWI Soup Kitchen.
“Coca-Cola believes in the Real Magic that arises when people work together to uplift and
serve their communities. We are confident that our partnership with foodpanda will not only
delight Malaysians but also contribute to a brighter, shared future. This aligns seamlessly
with our ‘Real Magic’ brand philosophy,” said Amruta Vaidya, Franchise Operations Director
for Coca-Cola Malaysia & Singapore.
With the help of all brand representatives, almost 200 meals were distributed to those in
need. The remaining meals and sundry goods will be distributed in stages over the next
several months.
