Just Tap “Buy”: Carousell’s New One-Click Checkout Button Makes Buying Secondhand Items Even Simpler And More Secure
Kuala Lumpur, 24 October 2023 – To further enhance its secure on-platform payments system, Carousell, the leading multi-category classifieds and recommerce marketplace, has rolled out the “Buy” button in Malaysia, a one-click solution for users to buy and sell items safely and conveniently.
Addressing the risks and hassle of online transactions, the feature allows users to continue to enjoy secure on-platform payments including FPX, and integrated delivery via PosLaju, as well as enhanced Buyer Protection policies. Buyers simply filter for listings with the ‘Buyer Protection’ label, while sellers can select the ‘List with ‘Buy’ button’ option on the sell form.
Enhancing protection for both buyers and sellers
Almost 80 percent of Carousell users surveyed say they chose to transact via Carousell Protection, the former escrow on-platform payment system, for safe and secure transactions. “Buy” button enhances the offerings of Carousell Protection to offer Buyer Protection policies, such as enhanced customer support to resolve disputes when the item received is significantly not as described or receive a full refund if the item is not received. Sellers are also protected from buyers who misuse dispute and return processes, reviews and orders.
Buyers will also have more assurance when shopping, as sellers will not be allowed to list with the ‘Buy’ button if they do not meet the criteria, such as review rating and order completion rate, or should there be multiple instances where orders are not fulfilled.
Integrated Shipping with PosLaju
Carousell continues its collaboration with PosLaju to offer integrated shipping at affordable rates, streamlining the process for both buyers and sellers. This integrated shipping solution enables buyers to track their orders in real-time and ensures hassle-free, reliable deliveries.
By enabling the “Buy” button on listings, sellers have the option to let buyers choose to transact via the one-click checkout feature, mirroring the e-commerce experience. Buyers will immediately make payment, held in escrow by Carousell, and have their order information shared with the seller on the ‘Order Details’ page to arrange for fulfilment. For users who opt for integrated delivery, they will be able to view their order tracking details on the ‘Order Details’ page. Users who prefer the traditional ‘chat to make offer’ process are still able to do so on the listing description page.
Ms Peh Jing Zhi, Head of Goods, Singapore and Malaysia, Carousell said, “Carousell is dedicated to providing a secure platform for Malaysians to shop confidently, and we are constantly improving our platform and features to do so. The ‘Buy’ button not only makes the shopping experience for secondhand items more convenient but also allows users to shop with more assurance.”
