Rain Rave Water Music Festival 2026 Kicks Off in Bukit Bintang

The Rain Rave Water Music Festival 2026 kicked off in Bukit Bintang on April 30, launching a three-day Visit Malaysia 2026 long weekend that ran simultaneously across eight states. Malaysian artists, hawkers, and artisans took centre stage as the festival brought its tagline ‘Where Rain Becomes Rhythm’ to life with water cannons, LED bursts, and synchronised stage lighting.

YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, led the official kick-off following a robot welcome dance performance. The daytime programme placed Malaysian small businesses at its core — the ‘Rhythm of Flavours’ food market at the main venue ran from 10am with local hawkers selling halal Malaysian street food to visitors and tourists, while the ‘Rhythm of Cultures’ zone at Lot 10 gave Malaysian artisans and craft businesses space for live demonstrations, traditional performances, and family activities throughout the day.

Festival cultural programming was delivered in partnership with Istana Budaya, the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN), the Department of National Heritage, and the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation (Kraftangan).

The first night’s main stage opened with four young Malaysian DJs — DJ Werno (De Wern), DJ Ameer, DJ Ethan, and DJ Cube Crusher — giving emerging homegrown talent a national platform. They were followed by hip-hop names Joe Flizzow, Killa Driz, and DJ Cza, and then DOLLA, the Malaysian girl group that has built a strong regional following since their 2020 debut and is now one of the country’s leading contemporary pop exports. International artists Pixzy from Thailand and Yoyo from China rounded out the night alongside traditional Malaysian dancers, with the ‘Symphony of Water and Light’ finale scheduled for May 2 to close the three-day event.

A nationwide rollout ran concurrently in Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Melaka, Kedah (Langkawi), WP Labuan, Pahang, and Terengganu, each with its own main stage performances, local food markets, and arts programming.
