Kuala Lumpur, April 24, 2024: Global hospitality technology company OYO has announced the launch of its self-operated hotels in Malaysia with the opening of GS Hotel in Kota Damansara in Kuala Lumpur. As part of the program, OYO will focus on improving customer experience by investing in the infrastructure and enhancing revenue potential with better technology and marketing initiatives. OYO plans to add 100 self-operated hotels in Malaysia in 2024.
OYO will secure annual to long-term management contracts on a revenue-share basis for these properties. OYO will ensure that realtors receive assured monthly or yearly rent from their properties, timely payments, flexible terms and conditions, safe upkeep of their properties and a swift mechanism to resolve concerns and act on suggestions.
OYO is also looking for partnership with real estate developers to identify and develop new hotel properties across key destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu. Most of these hotels will be onboarded under the company’s premium hotel offerings such as Sunday, Townhouse, Townhouse Oak and Collection O.
These hotels will be tagged as ‘Managed by OYO’ on the company’s App and Website to signal OYO’s active involvement in their operation. The company will closely monitor the hotel’s upkeep and customer reviews to evaluate and reward the top operators. OYO will also offer comprehensive training programs and ongoing support to equip our partners with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in managing OYO properties.
The initiative aims at establishing a collaborative ecosystem where OYO, hotel operators and property owners will work together to run guest focused, well run hotels in line with the company’s aim of fostering economic growth in communities through partnerships.
The program underscores OYO’s commitment to providing a comprehensive range of choices to customers. Whether it’s a business trip, family vacation, or solo adventure, guests will have more stay options in top- rated properties that complement their travel styles, budgets and preferences.
Speaking on the development, Akshay Rathod, Country Head, OYO Malaysia said “Malaysia is an important market for OYO where we are empowering our hotel partners with innovative programs to help them increase their revenue and stay competitive in the market. This program will create a collaborative ecosystem where hotel operators taking up properties on lease with OYO will have increased autonomy and opportunities to manage these properties effectively. Our goal is to empower these operators with the tools, resources, and support necessary to optimize the performance of their hotels”.
Commenting on the opportunity, Dato Gordev Singh, Owner, GS Hotel said “We were looking forward to a professional team adept at handling hotel operations. This program has delivered all that we needed while addressing our concerns. It reflects OYO dedication to creating a mutually beneficial environment, fostering growth, and driving collective success. We see great potential of growth through this program”.
