Malaysia has amongst the highest rate of kidney disease in the world, with over 7000 people diagnosed with kidney failure every year. While a kidney transplant is often seen as an ideal solution for someone with kidney failure, the limited amount of donor kidneys available means that for most patients, regular dialysis treatment is the only real available option.
In conjunction with World Kidney Day 2022, the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) will be organising its 16th Annual Dialysis Conference 2022 at the Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel on 5 and 6 March 2022 − with the theme “Holistic Care in Dialysis”.
For the first time, the one and a half-day conference will focus on palliative care in dialysis among other informative sessions led by notable experts that aim to discuss and share knowledge on the latest developments in kidney research – which will lead to improved outcomes and quality of life for patients and their caregivers. Other notable topics include expanded haemodialysis or HDX, pregnancy in dialysis and psychosexual issues in dialysis patients.
