KUALA LUMPUR, 27 October 2025 – The Maybank Championship returns to the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) for its third edition from 30 October to 2 November 2025. Once again, the region’s premier golf event brings together world-class competition and a vibrant showcase of ASEAN culture, creativity, and community spirit within the lively grounds of the Maybank Village.
Champions, Icons and Homegrown Heroes
This year’s Maybank Championship field unites the finest from across the globe and the region. World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand, who has already won twice this season, leads an impressive line-up that includes defending champion Ruoning Yin of China and 2023 winner Celine Boutier of France. Alongside them are 2025 LPGA Tour winners such as Grace Kim, Miyu Yamashita, Lottie Woad, twin sisters Akie and Chisato Iwai, Rio Takeda, Angel Yin, A Lim Kim, and Olympic gold medallist Lydia Ko, together forming one of the most formidable gatherings on the 2025 LPGA calendar.
Carrying Malaysia’s flag are Mirabel Ting, Ashley Lau, Kelly Tan, Liyana Durisic, and Genevieve Ling, each competing for the prestigious Tiger Trophy and a share of the USD 3 million prize purse – the richest in women’s golf in the region.
Showcasing Thailand’s growing golfing strength, ASEAN Qualifier top-five finishers Kritchanya Kaopattanaskul (amateur), Achiraya Sriwong (amateur), Namo Luangnitikul (amateur), Cholcheva Wongras and Kan Bunnabodee join the field, embodying the Championship’s spirit of regional opportunity and unity.
A Cultural Experience that is Uniquely ASEAN
Beyond the fairways, spectators can explore a celebration of ASEAN artistry and heritage. At the Maybank Village, the Maybank Women Eco-Weavers initiative will showcase the traditional craft of ASEAN textile weaving, inviting guests to learn the intricate techniques that have been passed down through generations. The programme, a flagship of Maybank Foundation, has empowered over 2,000 women across Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines and Malaysia, preserving ancient craftsmanship that is uniquely ASEAN, while enabling sustainable livelihoods.
Golf with a Cause, Save a Heart
Continuing its legacy of purpose, the Championship once again shines a light on those in need through the Maybank Save a Heart initiative. In partnership with Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), the campaign aims to provide life-saving treatments to children with heart conditions from ASEAN countries each year.
Making a meaningful return this year is the Maybank Championship umbrella, now carrying a purpose beyond its iconic yellow shade. With a minimum contribution of RM10, fans can bring home this signature keepsake from the Maybank Championship Umbrella Donation Truck, with all proceeds channeled directly to the Save a Heart fund.
Spectators can also show their support at the Save a Heart booth within Maybank Village or explore the cause through the Balai Seni Art Series (BSAS) exhibition, where art itself becomes an act of giving. Since 1988, Balai Seni Maybank has championed creative expression and cultural preservation. This year’s BSAS continues that legacy with a curated showcase of emerging Malaysian artists, including past participants of the MyTiger Values Art Competition. Every piece purchased helps extend the Championship’s purpose beyond the greens, reminding us that art, like sport, can move hearts and inspire change.
Meet Malaysia’s Sporting Hero, Shah Firdaus
Adding to the excitement, two-time Olympian and national track cyclist Shah Firdaus will make a special appearance for a meet-and-greet session with fans, celebrating the shared values of perseverance, dedication and sporting spirit that unite athletes across disciplines.
Interactive Experiences for Everyone
The Championship offers something for every visitor. At the Maybank Village, Malaysia’s national animal takes digital form in the playful AI Tiger experience, inviting spectators to interact with this symbol of strength and grace. Avid golfers can test their swing at the MST × Maybank Championship Golf Simulator, where games, challenges and prizes await throughout the day.
Kids’ Friendly Zone
Calling all parents! The MAE Kids Zone transforms learning into play through the Earn, Save & Spend with MAE activity – a fun, hands-on introduction to financial literacy. The zone also features an activation designed to help young families start their financial journey with MAE, creating meaningful learning moments for all ages.
Flavours of Home at Sama-Sama Lokal
No festival is complete without good food. At the Sama-Sama Lokal Bistro, visitors can unwind and enjoy a selection of local favourites and refreshments, with cashless payments encouraged via the MAE app or Maybank Cards for a seamless, sustainable dining experience.
A Celebration of Unity in Motion
The Maybank Championship 2025 extends beyond just golfing excellence, it will be a celebration of collective power, culture and community. From the fairways to the Maybank Village, every player, artist, volunteer and spectator contributes to a shared story of purpose and unity, one that continues to inspire beyond the course.
