Kuala Lumpur, 6 September – Kuala Lumpur’s bustling streets came to a near surreal halt today as IKEA Malaysia transformed the heart of the city into an unexpected sleep spectacle.
A group of seemingly ordinary workers made their way to pillow installation by IKEA at Lot 10 Shopping Centre, surprising onlookers by trading their office attire for cozy sleepwear – from your ordinary pyjamas to kain pelikat and baju kelawar.
This captivating performance capped off a week of playful surprises by IKEA, as part of its larger campaign to encourage Malaysians to prioritise sleep amid constant connectivity and the fear of missing out.
Throughout the week, ‘sleepwalkers’ seemingly dozing off on coaches were spotted by commuters on Kuala Lumpur’s MRT Kajang Line and LRT Kelana Jaya lines. Clad in pyjamas and carrying pillows, these individuals represented the many people who are sleep-deprived and desperately seeking any opportunity to catch up on rest – even during their commute.
On 6 September, the IKEA Sleepwalkers descended on Bukit Bintang station, surprising commuters with a spontaneous dance sequence. The captivating performance amidst the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur offered a serene interlude for the hustle of city life, inviting Malaysians to take a step back from their busy lives and prioritise their well-being – by sleeping more and sleeping better.
Scanning the QR code led Malaysians to a special microsite detailing the month-long activities of the IKEA Snooze Fest.
With this little nap-time nudge, IKEA Malaysia is only hitting snooze once. The IKEA Snooze Fest is happening across IKEA stores nationwide starting 7 September. Get ready to cosy up for a whole month of relaxed fun – packed with exciting activities.
