Experience the Bounty of the Solomon Islands, First and Exclusive in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 7 December 2023 – The crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches of
the Solomon Islands are home to thriving tuna populations, coconut groves and a variety of
natural resources that support local cottage industries.

Now, Malaysians get to experience exclusive #madeinsolomons products that showcase
the best of the Solomon Islands, which includes SolTuna, a flavoursome single-origin and
sustainably-sourced tuna from the Pacific Ocean processed locally and promptly to preserve
freshness, and locally-sourced and manufactured coconut-based personal care brands like
Coco Soap by Islands’ Own and KOSI by Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands personal care
products, all distributed by Bountiful Ventures Sdn Bhd (popularly known by its key brand
Medella, Malaysia’s #1 coconut cooking oil brand).

“We are proud to bring the best of Solomon Islands to Malaysia, the first country in the
ASEAN region to carry our consumer brands. This is a significant milestone for us, as this
trade partnership supports the livelihoods of local fishermen and farmers as well as their
families. Our countries have much in common as developing nations and we look forward to
sharing the best of both worlds and finding new ways of working together,” said H.E. the
Honorable Mr Salana Kalu, Solomon Islands Ambassador.

This trade partnership is supported by the Australian government via its Strongim Bisnis
initiative, which facilitates engagements between the private sector and the Solomon Islands government, fostering inclusive economic growth aimed at alleviating poverty with a long-lasting and positive impact.

“Australia and Solomon Islands are close and long-standing friends and partners. With
Malaysians being keen consumers of Australian brands, we are proud to support our
partners in Solomon Islands to join us in delivering high quality products to Malaysian
customers. Stronger trade relationships across the Indo-Pacific region benefit everyone and
it is great to see the growing number of products from both our countries on Malaysian
supermarket shelves,” said Mr Simon Fellows, acting Australian High Commissioner to
Malaysia.

Respect for the environment and community empowerment are the backbone of
#madeinsolomons. SolTuna (which includes its flagship brand Solomon Blue) is dolphin-
safe, Halal- and Fair Trade-certified, and has achieved Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)
certification that indicates its products are well managed, with fishing practices that meet the council’s stringent sustainability standards, while Coco Soap by Islands’ Own and KOSI by Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands provide employment, training and skill development for
local employees, and use coconut sourced purely from local farmers who maintain ownership of their own land.
