KUALA LUMPUR, 10 July 2026 – Vietjet has introduced Vietnam Halal Connect, a proposed initiative to foster closer collaboration among airlines, airports, tourism businesses, Halal certification bodies and technology partners in support of Muslim travel to Vietnam. The initiative holds particular significance for Malaysia, one of Vietnam’s key source markets for regional tourism, where Muslims make up the majority of the population.
The proposal was unveiled at the Vietnam Halal Tourism Conference 2026, where government representatives, international organisations and industry leaders discussed opportunities to enhance Vietnam’s appeal as a more attractive destination for Muslim travellers through greater cooperation across the tourism sector.
Vietnam Halal Connect is envisioned as a platform connecting stakeholders across the travel value chain, helping improve coordination across the travel sector and the overall experience for Muslim visitors. As part of the initiative, Vietjet aims to expand Halal meal options, digital travel solutions and partnerships with tourism stakeholders to better serve Muslim travellers, while supporting internationally recognised Halal standards where applicable.
“We see strong opportunities to strengthen Vietnam’s appeal among Muslim travellers through better connectivity and services that respond to their evolving travel needs,” said Mr. Ha Nang Viet, Vietjet’s Commercial Director. “Through Vietnam Halal Connect, we hope to encourage closer cooperation across the travel value chain so that Muslim travellers can explore Vietnam with greater confidence and convenience.”

Malaysia remains one of Vietjet’s key regional markets, with daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, supporting growing travel demand between two of ASEAN’s major economies. As demand for destinations offering Halal dining options and Muslim-friendly services continues to grow in Malaysia, Vietjet’s latest initiative reflects its commitment to supporting this growing travel segment while enhancing accessibility for Malaysian visitors to Vietnam.
Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese officials highlighted the country’s strategic location between Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and the Middle East, together with its diverse tourism offerings and stable development environment. According to figures presented at the event, Vietnam welcomed more than 21 million international visitors in 2025, including approximately 600,000 Muslim travellers.
As Vietnam continues to develop its Muslim-friendly tourism offerings, Vietjet remains committed to strengthening connectivity and working with industry partners to create a more convenient and enjoyable travel experience for Malaysian travellers discovering Vietnam’s culture, cuisine and attractions.
