Marriott International has signed an agreement with WB Hotel Properties Sdn. Bhd. by WEBEST Group to introduce Moxy Hotels to Melaka, bringing the lifestyle brand’s playful, social hospitality concept into the city’s historic centre.
The upcoming Moxy Melaka is planned as a 153-key hotel in Bandar Hilir, directly opposite Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall and next to Mahkota Parade. Its location places guests close to major attractions including Jonker Street Night Market, A Famosa, St. Paul’s Hill, Dutch Square and the Melaka River corridor.
Moxy Melaka Targets A 2027 Opening
Expected to open in early 2027, the hotel will be created through a strategic conversion of The Explorer Hotel. Marriott says the project reflects its continued focus on conversion opportunities and growth momentum in Malaysia, while supporting demand for lifestyle-led stays in culturally rich destinations.
The hotel is expected to feature social public spaces that match Moxy’s vibrant, experience-driven approach to hospitality. Guestrooms will be smartly designed and efficiently styled, with comfort and functionality delivered in the brand’s spirited, youthful style.
A Lifestyle Brand For Melaka’s Tourism Market
Andree Susilo, Vice President, Hotel Development – Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International, said the signing reflects Marriott International’s continued expansion of its lifestyle portfolio in Malaysia.
“As demand grows for experience-led hospitality, Moxy offers a differentiated proposition that resonates with today’s travelers. We are pleased to work with WB Hotel Properties Sdn. Bhd. by WEBEST Group to introduce the brand to Melaka, a destination with strong tourism appeal and growing travel demand,” he said.
Lydia Lim, Director of WEBEST Group, said the collaboration is intended to bring a new hospitality offering that complements Melaka’s evolving tourism landscape while appealing to both domestic and international travellers.
“We believe Moxy Melaka will bring a distinct new energy to the destination,” she added.
For Marriott International, the signing adds another Malaysia project under a global portfolio spanning more than 9,900 properties across 146 countries and territories as of 31 March 2026. Moxy Hotels currently has more than 175 properties open in over 30 countries and territories.
