KUALA LUMPUR, 22 October 2025 – What if you could bless others with RM100? The management of MR D.I.Y. Group and its philanthropic arm, Yayasan MR D.I.Y., turned that thought into action recently, when they went on a meaningful shopping trip to purchase essentials for those in need using their Penghargaan SARA: One-off RM100 Cash Assistance allocation. The initiative was part of the retailer and foundation’s CSR commitment to lead by example, with leaders personally taking part in initiatives that give back to the community.
The management team visited MR D.I.Y. Taman Maluri, one of the stores participating in the MyKasih initiative, to purchase daily essentials such as rice, instant noodles, milk, flour, cooking oil, biscuits, canned food, and household items. Using their RM100 SARA aid, the management team bought almost 600 items worth RM3,000. These purchases were donated to Home of Hope, a children’s cancer transit home in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, to bring comfort and support to its young residents.
“As a homegrown brand, we remain committed to uplifting the communities we serve, and we’re proud to be part of the MyKasih initiative as one of its authorised retail merchants,” said Adrian Ong, Chief Executive Officer of MR D.I.Y. Group. “Through our nationwide store network, beneficiaries of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) and Penghargaan SARA: One-off RM100 Cash Assistance can conveniently purchase daily essentials at Always Low Prices.
“Today’s initiative shows that even RM100 can make a meaningful difference. I’m proud to take part alongside my team. We hope our contribution inspires other corporates to do the same, for a better Malaysia.”
Joining Ong on the shopping trip were Yayasan MR D.I.Y. Chief Executive Officer Zaleha Mohd Mydin, MR D.I.Y. Group Vice President of Human Resource Management Henry Woon, Vice President of Marketing Alex Goh, Head of Marketing Elaine Ho, and Manager of Human Resource Management Nor Saiful Azly Mohamad Zin.
Zaleha said: “Today’s initiative is one of the most meaningful collaborations we’ve had with the MR D.I.Y. management team. It shows how purposeful actions, when supported by structured programmes, can bring real relief and joy to those in need. Beyond financial aid, it reflects our shared commitment to empathy and community care. We hope today’s effort brings happiness and comfort to the residents of Home of Hope.”
As part of the MyKasih initiative, MR D.I.Y. has been appointed an authorised merchant, enabling beneficiaries of Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) and Penghargaan SARA: One-off RM100 Cash Assistance to use their allocations at 125 selected MR D.I.Y. outlets nationwide.
