Haunted Mansion

A modern remake of the 2003 classic, Haunted Mansion is a comedic take on the horror genre and is inspired by one of Disneyland’s most beloved rides. The film takes you on an unexpected journey as Gabbie and her son Travis enlist the help of a priest, a former astrophysicist and currently leading “ghost tours” in the city, a psychic/medium and a historian to help them rid their new home of spirits. Goosebumps

If you’ve ever attended a Scholastic book fair, you’re bound to remember the iconic Goosebumps series by R.L Stine. The new series is inspired by the pop culture franchise phenomenon, drawing on elements from some of the bestselling books from the franchise such as, “Say Cheese and Die!”, “The Haunted Mask” and many more. It follows a group of high schoolers who investigate the tragic passing of Harold Biddle three decades ago, and in doing so begin to uncover dark secrets from their parents’ past. The 10-part series premiered with the first five episodes on Disney+ Hotstar on 13 October, with subsequent episodes to premiere weekly.

The Boogeyma

The Boogeyman is inspired by a short story written by Stephen King – and if you’re a true horror fanatic, this is the one for you. The film follows the Harper family who are overcoming the grief of the death of their mother and wife. Will Harper is a therapist who comes into contact with Lester Billings, a disturbed man who claims an entity has taken away the lives of his three children. After Will’s encounter with Lester, strange things begin to happen to the Harper family as they are forced to deal with the shadow-lurking beast known as The Boogeyman.

A Haunting In Venice

Based on Agatha Christie’s supernatural thriller, “Hallowe’en Party”, A Haunting in Venice is Disney’s latest thriller film following the whodunnit genre. The film follows Hercule Poirot, a famed sleuth, now retired and living in self-imposed exile in one of the most glamorous cities. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he reluctantly becomes a participant in a seance. As a murder unfolds among the guests, Poirot is plunged into a world of shadows and secrets. The film features a star-studded cast, with popular names such as Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Malaysia’s very own Michelle Yeoh.

What We Do In The Shadows

The ‘mockumentary’ style comedy horror sitcom follows three traditional vampires as they clash with living in the modern world, other supernatural beings, and with each other. Revenant

This one is perfect for the K-Drama lovers! The Revenant stars Kim Tae-ri as Gu Yan-Seong, a young woman possessed by an evil entity. Her character teams up with a professor with a supernatural ability to figure out the truth behind mysterious deaths happening around her. This series is thrillingly and terrifying, and Kim Tae-ri’s performance will definitely force you into bingeing the 12-episode series.

Hotel Del Luna

Hotel Del Luna has all the classic themes of K-drama paired with a unique backdrop of a supernatural hotel that houses spirits with unfinished business in the mortal world. The story follows Jang Man-Wol, whose soul is bonded to the hotel after committing a great sin a millennium before, and becomes the hotel’s owner. The hotel acquires a new general manager, Koo Chan-Sung, who uncovers the secrets of the hotel and owner. This series is a romantic comedic take on the fantasy-drama genre and is one of Korea’s highest-rated dramas.

Coco

An Oscar-winning animated film, Coco is a feel-good family film inspired by the Mexican holiday, the Day of the Dead. The story follows Miguel on an unexpected journey to the truth of his family’s past – living and dead. Through this, Miguel also re-ignites his family’s passion and love for music.
