In conjunction with the Petrosains Science Festival 2017, #mydigitalmaker Fair 2017 is set to celebrate students’ innovation and creativity in technology

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 September 2017 – Petrosains launched the annual Petrosains Science Festival 2017 (PSF 2017) on 7 September 2017 at the Petrosains Discovery Centre. A plaque of appreciation has also been awarded to strategic partners, including the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) #mydigitalmaker movement as it came on-board as the official Community Partner the PSF 2017.

To coincide with PSF 2017, MDEC and the Ministry of Communications & Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) will be holding the first #mydigitalmaker Fair 2017 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (Hall 6) on the 16 and 17 September 2017, from 10.00am to 6.00pm. #mydigitalmaker Fair is one of many initiatives by MDEC to help promote digital making amongst students, teachers and parents, and help transform young Malaysians from digital consumers into digital makers of the future. The PSF 2017 was launched by Yang Mulia Tengku Nasariah Tengku Syed Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of Petrosains at Petrosains, Suria KLCC.

The first #mydigitalmaker Fair 2017 will be happening from 16 to 17 September 2017 at KL Convention Centre (Hall 6) from 10.00am to 6.00pm. #mydigitalmaker Fair 2017 is a celebration of Malaysian students’ innovation, technology, and creativity - the first event of its kind in Malaysia that MDEC is organising in partnership with global technology giants and leading academic institutions, all under the support of the KKMM.

  2. Robotics (Rero, Creative Robotics, and Centillion)
  3. Coding (Kidocode and Myduino)
  4. 3D printing (Vagler and Kaki DIY)
  5. Drones (Tinker & Invent)
  6. Virtual Reality AKA VR (EXA Global and Blinkware)
  7. Gaming and Animation (Streamline Studios, Les Copaque, and LEVEL UP KL)
  8. MDEC dedicated booths for Digital Ninjas, MDEC Gallery and Digital Maker Hub

A few key events to look out for at the #mydigitalmaker Fair 2017 include:

  1. Informative talks with key industry players such as Streamline Studios, IBM, EXA Global, Amazon, and ADAX
  2. Sharing session by #mydigitalmaker Digital Ninjas and the Battle of the Digital Ninjas in a ‘Shark Tank Concept’
  3. Coffee Chat discourse session with parents, teachers, students and key industry speakers on the importance of future proofing the next generation of digital innovators and
  4. Plenty of fun exciting games on the floor during the two-days event
